چکیده
The study was conducted from November 2017 to May 2018 in the experimental field at Gazipur, Bangladesh investigate incidence of sucking pests namely gladiolus thrips Teniothrips simplex, tuberose aphid Aphis craccivora, marigold Neotoxoptera oliveri, and dahlia mealybug Plannococcus citri on their cultivated host plants relation temperature, relative humidity rainfall. Results showed that abundance thrips, aphid, mealy bug reached peak 3rd week January, February, 1st January respectively. Among weather factors, temperature had significant negative impact whereas rainfall influence only aphid. Multiple linear regression analysis variables collectively predicted 55.9%, 75.9%, 44.5%, 34.6% abundances mealybug, J. Sci. Ind. Res.56(4), 241-248, 2021

Abundance of adult hoverflies (Diptera: Syrphidae) on different flowering plants
Encouraging natural enemies by growing attractive plants is considered an effective method of pest control in organic farming. However, it is important to identify which flowers best attract beneficial insects. In this study, relative attractiveness of 16 species of flowering plants to adult hoverflies was assessed by conducting timed observations of feeding-visit frequencies. The experiments w...

متن کاملNovel Genes for Control and Deterrence of Sucking Insect Pests
Current GM crops are thus far the almost exclusive domain of herbicide and insect resistance traits. The Bt toxins used for insect control have a narrow specificity against lepidopteran and coleopteran pests only. Yet, aphids and thrips are highly important pests worldwide, causing severe direct losses and transmitting devastating viruses such as Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus (TSWV). So far, few us...
